The Tottenham coach Roberto De Zerbi spoke at a press conference on the eve of the friendly against Auckland FC. The coach from Brescia addressed the transfer market issue and sent a message to the players who may be leaving, including Cristian Romero, a target for Inter.

“I have been very clear since the beginning of my experience at Tottenham. I said: who doesn’t want to stay at Tottenham? Whoever is not happy, whoever is not proud to be here, must leave. I want players who are proud and happy to stay here, who take the field at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with great motivation,” said De Zerbi.

“Because today in football, even if you think about the World Cup, motivation makes the difference. Motivation is being happy to belong to a team,” added the Spurs coach.

The former Brighton coach then gave an update on the transfer window: “First of all, I think our transfer window is not over yet. We have to finish it, we have to bring in another couple of players, maybe more, maybe not less, but a couple of players. I am very happy, I am excited to work with the new players and with the old ones.”

“I think we are working very well with Johan Lange and Vinai. We are working with a clear idea. We have signed players with great experience, like Robbo. I think we need this type of player because we need to increase our experience. We need to improve mentally, we need to be stronger, because in the last two seasons we have not done what Tottenham must do. At the end of the transfer window we will commit to closing the session. But at the moment, I am very excited,” concluded De Zerbi.
