The interest of Cristian Chivu in Curtis Jones is now evident. The Nerazzurri coach sees the English midfielder as the piece needed to bring unpredictability and different qualities to the central midfield.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the coach’s appreciation may have been definitively established on the evening of last December 9th, during the Champions League match against Liverpool. In that game, Jones did not shine with spectacular plays, but he stood out in a different way.

The Englishman was in fact the “everywhere man” for the Reds: high winger, low winger, holding midfielder, central midfielder, part-time playmaker, full-back, busy organizing play in front of the defense. A performance that summed up his constructive abilities, without showing the flashes he has always been capable of producing.

It is precisely this versatility and completeness that seem to have won over Chivu, convinced that the midfielder can offer characteristics currently missing in the Nerazzurri midfield.
