Inter could lose De Vrij as early as the winter transfer window. The Dutch defender, who returned to the starting lineup yesterday in the Italian Super Cup match against Bologna, needs more playing time ahead of the World Cup with his national team and does not rule out a transfer should interesting offers come in from other clubs.

According to Corriere dello Sport, both the Nerazzurri club and Chivu would prefer to keep the player, but managing a dissatisfied footballer is always a challenge. If the Dutch center-back were to leave, a reinforcement for the defense would be needed.

The priority, however, would not be another center-back. The goal would be to find a left-sided defender who could serve as an alternative to Bastoni, thus avoiding the need to use Carlos Augusto both on the wing and in the back line.
