Inter is still waiting for a response from Joao Cancelo. The Nerazzurri club has given the Portuguese full-back a week to decide on his future. According to Corriere dello Sport, the player’s priority remains Barcelona, while his agent Mendes maintains constant contact with both the Catalan and Milanese clubs.
With Inter, the deal already has a defined structure: Al-Hilal would cover most of the 9 million salary owed to Cancelo for the second half of the season, while the Nerazzurri would contribute just over 3 million. As compensation for the Saudi club, and to avoid increasing the wage bill, either de Vrij or Acerbi would move to Arabia, with the Italian defender having already given his availability for the transfer.
Barcelona, however, is in a more backward position compared to Inter. They have not yet made a final decision on Cancelo and consider a central defender as their market priority. The possible solution could involve the arrival of the Portuguese player with Koundé moving to the center of defense.
There is also the financial issue complicating the Blaugrana’s plans. To register a new player, the Catalan club must ‘cut’ another member for squad list reasons. The name is Christensen, who suffered a knee injury and will be out for four months. The communication to La Liga must arrive by Friday, after which Barça will be able to use 80% of his salary to register a new signing. Mendes is also in a hurry and is pushing to get a response from Laporta as soon as possible.
