Piero Ausilio has firmly denied the rumors linking him to Al-Hilal. According to Tuttosport, in Saudi Arabia they are still convinced that the Saudi club has not given up on the idea of bringing the Inter sporting director into their management.
The Arab club, after convincing Simone Inzaghi with a contract worth 26 million per year, wanted to reunite the coach-sporting director duo that at Inter had won a league title, five trophies between Coppa Italia and Supercoppa, and two Champions League finals. The goal was to close the deal in September, after the transfer window, but the move never materialized.
In Arabia, for over a month in August, they almost took for granted the arrival of Ausilio and his deputy Baccin in the autumn. However, the negotiations never really took off. The reason lies in the will of the Inter executive, who is very attached to the club where he arrived in January 1998 as secretary of the youth sector, not to open the door to a move to Arabia. And he will not do so in the coming months either.
Ausilio is totally immersed in the Inter project and does not intend to leave the club, as he had already hinted a few months ago in an interview. “There’s not much to say. I’m happy where I am, I have a contract until 2027. In the past, I also received more financially attractive offers. But I never left here”, he said regarding the interest from Al-Hilal.
Probably in Riyadh new rumors started again following the presence of club executives in the city to follow the team engaged last Friday in the Supercoppa semifinal against Bologna. However, there have been no contacts. The sporting director, busy evaluating possible reinforcements for January, immediately and firmly denied any hypothesis when the rumor started circulating again yesterday, definitively closing the door.
