The November break dedicated to National team commitments officially ended last night with the final matches. This morning, as per tradition, the AIA has released the referee assignments for the twelfth round of Serie A, which will feature as the highlight match the derby scheduled for Sunday, November 23 at San Siro at 8:45 pm: Inter-Milan.
Refereeing Inter-Milan, as had already been rumored in recent days, will be Simone Sozza. The referee from Seregno will be assisted by Peretti and Colarossi, while Marcenaro will be the Fourth Official on the sidelines with the tough task of keeping Chivu on one side and Allegri on the other in check. VAR will be entrusted to Aureliano, with Di Paolo serving as AVar.
With the appointment of Sozza, Inter fans are obviously reminded of one of the most nightmarish recent precedents, which dates back to the last Italian Super Cup final. On that occasion, the referee was the protagonist of a serious error during an unsanctioned foul by Morata on Asllani, from which the free kick was awarded and converted by Theo Hernandez, sparking Milan’s comeback.
The referee from Seregno has officiated five matches in the Italian league this season and four between the Champions and Europa League. The last match he officiated in Serie A was on October 29, specifically the 3-0 victory by Inter over Fiorentina. This is the only previous match with the Nerazzurri this season.
