As every Wednesday, the Italian Referees’ Association AIA has just released the referee appointments for the 26th matchday of the Serie A 2024/2025 championship. Spotlight is obviously on Inter, expected to react immediately following last Sunday’s defeat in the Italian derby against Juventus. The Nerazzurri will play at San Siro in the match scheduled for Saturday 22nd February at 20.45 against Genoa.
The referee for the Inter-Genoa match will be Marco Piccinini from the Forlì section. The linesmen appointed are Cecconi and Vecchi, with Arena acting as Fourth Official. VAR is assigned to Serra with Chiffi serving as AVAR.
Regarding the past encounters between Piccinini and Inter, the Nerazzurri’s clear record is noteworthy. Out of five matches officiated by the ref from Forlì, the Black&Blues have clinched a remarkable four victories and only one draw. This sole draw goes back to the thrilling 2-2 match on October 31, 2020 against Parma, with an early brace from Gervinho and a comeback from Inter courtesy of goals by Brozovic and Perisic.
