Ceferin’s revolution on the new Champions League seems to have affected not only the unprecedented format of the 2024/25 edition. The distribution of matches broadcast by Italian broadcasters will also be impacted by this new setup. As we know, Sky Sport will exclusively broadcast 185 out of a total of 203 matches, while Amazon Prime Video will have the remaining 18 games: one for each round, considered the best match on Wednesdays.
However, a substantial novelty has been introduced this season compared to previous years. The new UEFA calendar will no longer guarantee the exact alternation of Tuesday/Wednesday matchdays for each team, as was done in the past. And this is reflected in the distribution of matches that will be broadcast on the two Italian broadcasters.
Amazon Prime, for example, has officially announced the six matches that will be exclusively broadcast on its platform in the first six matchdays. As for the last two matches – scheduled for January – they may be selected in the coming weeks based on the situation in the rankings of the Italian teams.
In the first six Amazon matches, only Inter and Juventus will be the protagonists. Due to the schedule of Milan, Atalanta, and Bologna, the big matches selected for Wednesdays are only those of Inter. While waiting to discover the distribution of the last two matchdays, there is a real possibility of excluding the broadcasting of three Italian teams from the championship phase on Prime Video.
Where to watch all of Inter’s matches in the Champions League: Sky or Amazon Prime Video
Focusing solely on Inter, these three matches in the first phase of the new Champions League will be broadcast on Amazon Prime:
- Manchester City-Inter, September 18 at 9:00 PM (Etihad Stadium)
- Young Boys-Inter, October 23 at 9:00 PM (Stadio Wankdorf)
- Inter-Arsenal, November 6 at 9:00 PM (Meazza, San Siro)
This means that only on Sky Sport will Inter fans be able to follow these three matches:
- Inter-Stella Rossa, October 1st at 9:00 PM (Meazza, San Siro)
- Inter-Leipzig, November 26 at 9:00 PM (Meazza, San Siro)
- Bayer Leverkusen-Inter, December 10 at 9:00 PM (BayArena)
Regarding the last two matches against Sparta Prague and Monaco, both scheduled for Wednesday (January 22 and 29, 2025), there is a fair chance that at least one of them will be broadcast on Prime Video.
