Denzel Dumfries officially returned to the field in the final minutes of the match against Bodo Glimt, in the second leg of the Champions League playoff. The Dutch winger showed that he has overcome the ankle problem that had kept him out for four months, and his return to the pitch is a positive note on a complicated evening for the Nerazzurri.
However, looking ahead to the upcoming matches, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, caution will still be needed in managing his return. For tomorrow’s match against Genoa, the chances of seeing him in the starting lineup are very low. Chivu intends to proceed gradually, avoiding rushing things and forcing his recovery. On the right flank, Luis Henrique will therefore still play, while on the left Dimarco is confirmed, also because Carlos Augusto will have to be used in the back three to replace the suspended Bastoni.
It is plausible, however, that just as against the Norwegians, Genoa Dumfries could also come on during the match and thus increase his playing time. In this way, within a few games he could be fully available for a starting spot as well.
