The first test for Inter ended with a very good 7-2 exactly one week after returning to work at Appiano Gentile. In the in-house friendly against the U23, Cristian Chivu immediately received excellent signals from his boys. In particular, it was the new signings who impressed the Romanian coach: from the growth of Sucic, to the valuable work of Bonny, up to the gem of Luis Henrique.

These are the player ratings given by Tuttosport with scores and assessments for the Inter players:

Sommer 6 – Two goals conceded without fault, leads the play from the back. Di Gennaro (1’ st) 6 Takes home a summer clean sheet.

Darmian 5.5 – Physically among the most ready, some defensive gaps: misses the cross from Berenbruch that leads to Spinaccè’s goal. Pavard (1’ st) 5.5 Not exciting when opponents call him to defend.

De Vrij 6 – The silent minister of defense: keeps the youngsters in check. Acerbi (1’ st) 6 Raises the decibels, closes the backline and gives instructions.

Bastoni 6 – Pressing, scares Kamate who puts the ball in the wrong net. Otherwise, more coverage than anything else. Palacios (1’ st) 5 Since he comes on, it’s all Pacho here and Pacho there: called out too often by Chivu and teammates. But he doesn’t help himself.

Dumfries 5 – Among the most sluggish, never gets past the excellent Cocchi. The pass he gives to Mosconi for the 2-2 is just about sufficient. Luis Henrique (1’ st) 6.5 His calling card is a rocket from the edge of the box. Starts lively, fades as the minutes go by.

Sucic 6.5 – A diesel engine: slow start, then loosens up and delivers some fine touches. Like the assist for Lautaro. Barella (1’ st) 6 Tries a Totti-style chip, raises the intensity: fighting and controlling, as usual.

Asllani 6 – Chivu takes twenty minutes too long to lose patience: not exactly central to the project. Cool from the penalty spot. Calhanoglu (1’ st) 6.5 Beach-like approach, then takes the wheel and leads. The two-man midfield works, including a goal.

Mkhitaryan 5.5 – Hardly ever seen. Zalewski (1’ st) 6.5 A nice alternative in the attacking midfield: approved.

Carlos Augusto 5.5 – Also among the less lively due to hard work. By the book. Dimarco (1’ st) 6.5 In top form, provides Esposito with the ball for the fifth goal and creates several dangers.

Bonny 7 – Great way to introduce himself: moves around, holds the ball, scores and wins a penalty. Protagonist. Thuram (1’ st) 5.5 Who knows if moving wide, after two years as a number nine, was his dream.

Lautaro 7 – The feeling with Bonny already seems to be there: better as a creator than a finisher, misses two goals. But then he scores. Esposito (1’ st) 7 Old school striker with the freshness of Generation Z.

Chivu 6.5 – Asks for high pressing and gets it: it’s too early to see his influence.
