The evening of Inter–Bruges brings with it a family story destined to make noise. On the eve of the match at San Siro, La Gazzetta dello Sport interviewed Emanuele Tresoldi, father of Nicolò, the Bruges striker who will be on the field tonight against the Nerazzurri.

“Emotion and pride,” said the father to describe his feelings in these hours. “Nicolò is slowly reaping the rewards of his work: he struggled to establish himself because he didn’t have the talent of a champion or the physique of a powerhouse. And yet, here he is. A father couldn’t wish for more.” The roots of the boy’s growth lie in Germany, where the family had moved for the mother’s job, who worked in the civil aviation sector. “At one point it seemed we would have to move to Liverpool. Instead, we ended up in Hannover, where Nicolò showed he could become a footballer.”

In recent weeks, the debate over the choice of national team — Germany or Italy — has taken up a lot of space. Emanuele Tresoldi clarified that it will be his son who decides, following his heart rather than technical convenience. Nicolò has already promised the German Under-21 coach to complete the cycle: he needs 2 more goals to break the scoring records in the category. “After the European Championship, we’ll see,” added the father.

On his future in Serie A, the answer was clear: “His dream is to wear the Milan shirt. And if Inter called? I’m not at all sure he would accept. The spirit of the fan might prevail.” Emanuele Tresoldi was himself a professional footballer, having played as a full-back in Serie A, including with Atalanta.
