As usual, Arrigo Sacchi has commented on the Scudetto battle in the columns of La Gazzetta dello Sport. The former coach discussed the chances of Inter and Napoli, also promoting the ambitions of Atalanta as the third contender.
Here are his words:
ATALANTA – Gasperini’s team has been knocked out of the Coppa Italia and the Champions League. Now they will put all their energy into winning the title, I’m convinced of that. The win against Empoli shows that the environment is healthy, that the demoralization from exiting the Champions League has been absorbed, and those little discussions that always exist in every team have been overcome. In my opinion, Atalanta will compete for the Scudetto until the end. Atalanta is three points behind the leaders Inter, which is certainly not a huge gap. Therefore, I believe that anything is possible. On Saturday there is a showdown with Napoli and Atalanta has a game at home against Venezia… the Bergamaschi can do it for various reasons.
INTER – Inter, I’ve said it many times, is the team best equipped to win, but that doesn’t mean it will win. It has organization, it has experience, and it has also spent a lot on the transfer market. However, the commitment in the Champions League could be a distraction and may drain physical and psychological energy.
NAPOLI – Let’s see what they do on Saturday against the Nerazzurri. They took a bad hit in Como and I’m sorry because Conte and his boys had achieved a real feat by staying up there. Now Antonio will have to find that brilliance in the game that brought him to the top. He can do it, but at the moment I sense a dip.
