According to Sabatini, Josep Martinez is set to regain a starting spot after the performance shown against Real Madrid. The journalist, speaking in the SportMediaset studios, expressed confidence in the Spanish goalkeeper and in Chivu‘s decision to rely on him again.
The number one of Inter has had a particular journey: from a mistake that had negatively marked his moment, to a series of decisive saves at the Bernabeu. For Sabatini, the performance against the blancos demonstrated the qualities of the young goalkeeper, capable of reacting with character.
“Martinez went from a depressing situation, that of the mistake, to a series of exciting saves,” said the journalist. “I believe he is a Spanish boy who had never played at the Bernabeu and wanted to prove himself: there was no need to overdo it. He has certainly learned the lesson, he does not lack the qualities to put it behind him and make it a treasure. Absolutely right to confirm trust in him.”
The belief is that the goalkeeper has processed the negative experience and can now build on the good things shown in one of the most prestigious arenas in Europe. The confirmation between the posts therefore seems the most natural choice to continue the growth path.
