Although there are just over 48 hours left until the match at San Siro between Inter and Udinese, the first pre-match press conference already took place today. The match comes following a two-week break for National team commitments, and several players will be unavailable due to injuries suffered in recent days.
Among these absences, as confirmed this afternoon to reporters by coach Kosta Runjaic, both Thauvin and Alexis Sanchez—the latter notably a former player of this encounter—will not recover in time for Inter-Udinese. As explained by the Udinese manager, both are currently dealing with injuries and won’t even be called up for the fixture at San Siro. Here is his statement from the press conference:
THAUVIN – He needs a little more time. During the week, he attempted some running exercises to progressively rejoin the squad. The situation looks promising, but we opted to treat his injury further. I hope he’ll return next week.
SANCHEZ – He has sustained an injury. Everyone is available besides him and Thauvin. Obviously, I’m not happy he’s injured, but we have other players ready to step onto the field. We have a good squad to challenge Inter.
SOLET – Last week, he didn’t train due to a minor physical issue. He’s returned to training over these past few days, and we hope he’ll be available to play. He has contributed significantly to our defensive solidity. Both he and Bijol are good players, and Oumar aims to perform at the highest level. He’s playing well and can still improve. We want him to sustain this level while also addressing specific aspects of his game, as he’s not far from his goal of playing for a top club. However, right now, we need to focus on the next match and hope he doesn’t suffer any further setbacks. He picked up this issue after the Verona match, and we managed him carefully. Since yesterday he has been back training with the group, therefore he should be available, considering there’s still another training session to go.
