One of the goals that Inter has been pursuing for some time to rejuvenate its squad is Nicolò Bertola, a central defender whose contract with Spezia is expiring. He is one of the most promising youngsters in Serie B and both the Nerazzurri and other Serie A teams had asked the Liguria club about his contractual situation.
The 2003-born defender was considered by the Nerazzurri management as one of the possible cost-effective coups being a prospective talent that follows the line dictated by Oaktree. However, according to Tuttosport, Inter would have let go in recent days.
President Beppe Marotta and Sports Director Piero Ausilio have therefore abandoned the Bertola track, according to the Turin newspaper, to focus on other profiles both in the defensive department and in other parts of the field: meanwhile, three options surface from the Serie A as possible successors to Acerbi.
