At the microphones of Sky Sport, before the match at the Bernabeu, Mourinho spoke about Inter and the Champions League match. The Portuguese coach emphasized his connection with the Madrid stadium: “At this moment it is my stadium because I work for Real Madrid but also because of May 22, 2010. We’ll see tomorrow. Every match is important for us but also for Inter, there are 8 matches, I hope to see Inter again further on.”
The coach then analyzed the Nerazzurri team: “A great team, for 6 years, from Antonio Conte to Inzaghi to Chivu, it has always had the same style of play, the same tactical system, the same players, they can play with their eyes closed, they have maturity and quality but also physicality. The only surprise in recent years is that they haven’t won the Champions League.”
On Chivu’s path as a coach, Mourinho revealed: “It’s hard to say: when they are players, their focus is on playing. I had many contacts with him when he was coaching the Primavera, we spent a lot of time together and that’s when I understood his passion. I find other former players who are coaches but in whom I don’t find that empathy for such a difficult job.”

Sometimes you have to make players understand that they need to do something different but the discussion is important.” Regarding the comparison between Mbappé and Lautaro, he added: “Mbappé is Mbappé, Lautaro is Lautaro, two different players. Even if we have 3 suspended, it’s still 11 against 11.”
On the midfield lineup, Mourinho joked: “It’s tough, whoever made the match schedule is probably Italian.” Finally, on his approach in Madrid: “I seem calmer but I’m always the same.”
