According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Chivu has decided to confirm Josep Martinez between the posts for tonight’s match against Shakhtar: it will be the Spanish goalkeeper’s tenth consecutive appearance this season, considering both the league and the Champions League.

The choice is not accidental. The Nerazzurri coach has supported Martinez both publicly and privately even during the most difficult phases, when the goalkeeper showed clear uncertainties in some matches, especially in Europe. The hierarchy therefore appears consolidated: the former Genoa player leads the goal with Ivan Provedel as his deputy.

The second goalkeeper, however, will not remain on the bench for long. Again according to the pink newspaper, Provedel will soon have two opportunities in the league — against Fiorentina and Venezia — to start from the first minute in an official match.
