The president of Inter, Giuseppe Marotta, spoke about himself in an interview with Giorgia Rossi in the new format Giorgia’s Secret on DAZN. Below are all the statements.

“The first championship as president is an immense emotion, clearly as an Inter fan, but above all as a boy who became a man who had the dream of becoming a manager. I would never have imagined becoming president, especially of Inter, but I would say that’s the beauty of life. These are the days when dreams come true and this is a dream realized. Behind every trophy there is a lot of sweat, not so much from me, but from everyone who gave both the minimum and the maximum contribution to achieving this goal. A goal that was certainly well deserved.”

“I turn success into a somewhat romantic vision: I say that dreams come true, then you must immediately have the ability to create new ones. In Europe, we would like to achieve something next year. Dreams are also goals. In sports and football, you must not be arrogant, which is a flaw, but ambitious, raising the bar for more important achievements. We have raised the bar, but we will raise it even more next year.”

“It will be an evolution and not a revolution because in my opinion the team itself has a solid core, a very precise backbone made up of players who have been here for several years. I am referring to Barella, Bastoni, Lautaro, I mention three names not by chance who also represent the others. They have created this solid core into which others also enter when they arrive. Today it is important to transmit the culture of winning even to the newcomers who perhaps do not have such important experiences.”

“Bastoni? I think the fans can rest easy. As a principle, we are not sellers. If a player leaves, it is because he has also expressed the desire to leave. I must say that Bastoni absolutely has not expressed the desire to leave. He is happy here with us, so we do not need to sell him. I think he will stay with us longer.”

“Chivu’s renewal is a formality, it is not a priority compared to the program ahead of us. He has a contract, we will extend it because it is right to do so. He has shown that he is not only up to the situation, but that he is one of the emerging coaches at the national level. It is right that he receives recognition from the club, both in the extension and also in the revision of the financial aspect.”

“The Champions League for me is a dream because I respect my opponents. It is a goal as a manager and as someone who must give objectives and input to the team. “Similarities between the experience at Juve and at Inter? Juve had and still has the same ownership for over 100 years. At Inter there have been changes in the last 20 years. They are both great clubs, part of the history of Italian football. I am very proud to be at Inter and to be its president, it is something extraordinary.”

“Is it better to win as favorites or not? I say this almost polemically: everyone this year said that the important thing is to reach the Champions League… You have to have the courage to say that you have to win, Inter must try to win and always aim high.”

“Where do I see myself after Inter? For now, I am living this role at Inter very well and I thank Oaktree for appointing me president. We are enjoying great satisfaction. When this chapter is closed, I would like to stay in sports almost out of a sense of gratitude: I have received a lot from others. In a technical role, since experience is needed.
