Curtis Jones is preparing to win a starring role at Inter. After his debut as a starter at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid, the English midfielder could also be in the starting lineup on Saturday at the Olimpico against Roma.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chivu is considering starting him again at Roma’s home ground, in the role of a mobile and creative left midfielder. The Englishman, who came on against Udinese, has shown that he has quickly adapted to the tactical demands and the new Nerazzurri environment. Only eleven days will have passed between his first start against Real and Saturday’s match: a confirmation would be a significant sign of his growth.

The newspaper highlights how Jones is currently the English player in the squad in the best shape. While John Stones is injured and risks being out for about a month (tomorrow he will undergo tests for a strain in his left thigh flexors) and Djed Spence is still behind in terms of fitness and will not be called up on Saturday, the former Liverpool player is climbing the ranks. The midfielder aims to become a regular starter, also because Zielinski could be used as a playmaker more frequently than initially expected.

Jones is exactly the kind of midfielder who is useful against Gasperini‘s aggressive system, provided he can overcome the first pressing.
