Simone Inzaghi spoke to DAZN to comment on what happened in the Napoli-Inter match, a big clash in the 27th round of Serie A. However, before the interview could start, the coach controversially commented on the ongoing video replay review post-game.
In particular, after DAZN had shown the incident of Dumfries’ possible penalty handball, Inzaghi repeatedly asked for a review of the contact between Dumfries and McTominay in Napoli’s penalty area.
These were his words:
“I was waiting to see the other incident too. There were two incidents and you’ve only shown one. The McTominay-Dumfries contact? Yes. I was curious to see it because I hadn’t seen it yet.
The coach then remarked on the game:
PERFORMANCE – The game was tough. The first half was balanced, in the second we had some problems. Napoli has grown a lot, we had to step up a bit more, but we faced a valuable opponent, fresher. We should have been more skilled on the goal. We had problems with the changes, we had to move Dumfries across the pitch. But I have exceptional lads who gave everything they had. We move on, the championship is extremely balanced, with many strong teams making a great progress.
LATE GOALS CONCEDED – In head-to-head clashes, you need to be perfect and we weren’t. Today, we should have been more skilled at the 87th minute, not letting Lobotka inside our penalty area. Then the goal followed. In the last minutes, the goal probability increases, and that’s more likely for those playing 40 games a year. It shouldn’t happen, but we are working hard on it.
CHANGES – Getting into these games isn’t easy. The lads tried to help each other, but Napoli has grown a lot, as other times in the second half. I was thinking of switching to 4-4-2, but then we had to cover the width and we adapted with Dumfries playing left wing-back and Pavard right wing-back.
CHANGE OF FORMATION – Confusion after Dimarco’s change? Initially, Dumfries was supposed to stay on the right and we were planning to switch to 4-4-2, with Dumfries covering Spinazzola. Then we saw that Napoli was maintaining the width, so we preferred to continue as we started, putting Dumfries on the left and Pavard on the right.
