At the end of Inter-Udinese, a match valid for the 2nd matchday of Serie A 2025/2026, coach Cristian Chivu spoke in a press conference to comment on the performance of the Nerazzurri. Below are his answers to the journalists present at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium.
Inter-Udinese, Cristian Chivu’s words in the press conference
MOTIVATION – “We have to find the motivation, the enthusiasm and desire to do well that we had a few days ago. Today we managed to unlock the game but we struggled to find fluidity in our play, never really seeking superiority. The penalty episode caused us some mental damage, increasing our frenzy and over-elaboration. In the second half, with anger and grit, finding a bit of clarity, we managed to create something, but not enough to take it home.”
CHANGES – “We have to find that type with the solutions we have. It’s not easy because there are many years of habits that you can’t remove in a few weeks and the responsibility is mine. I have to speed up the process to convey my ideas, with what we have because we can’t do otherwise.”
SOLUTIONS – “Today I overdid it with the solutions in attack to stay with people used to scoring goals. I talk about an open construction site but there is no time to keep it open for too long, we have to find quick solutions. Today I wasn’t able to convey that motivation and calm to play a better match than we did. We have to work to improve because we are Inter and expectations are very high.”
DEFECTS – “Over the years our team has done many things well. I want to remove some small defects that someone may have regarding this search for play. Against a physical team that doesn’t give much away, above all, you have to be more concrete and pragmatic. Learn to do things better according to the opponent.”
PLAYERS – “On an individual level, everyone has to give their best. I made a general speech because everyone seemed over-elaborate and in difficulty. The fault is mine because I wasn’t able to convey the right motivation. I can’t talk about the transfer market in terms of speculation, I talk about those I have and I want to coach them as best as possible from the first to the last. I only know that I work to improve everyone, this team, and if today we weren’t able to perform at our best, the fault is always mine.”
