Now both are chasing league leaders Milan, just one point behind, and for this reason neither can afford not to win.
The Nerazzurri team led by coach Cristian Chivu is coming off a demanding series of away games in recent days. First the Serie A match at Roma‘s ground, and then Tuesday night’s match in Belgium against Union SG for the third round of the Champions League. Just 48 hours before the clash with Napoli, however, there was no training session at Inter‘s headquarters.
Today’s training session at Appiano Gentile was in fact canceled by Chivu himself, who gave his players a day of rest to allow for better recovery of their physical and mental energy just hours before the big match to be played in Naples, as reported by today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport.
