It has long been known that one of the objectives of Oaktree as the new owner of Inter is to manage to lower the average age of the squad because the roster available to Simone Inzaghi today is the oldest in the Serie A and there are few in Europe with a similar average.

This company policy contradicts that implemented in recent transfer sessions which have brought many established players to Appiano Gentile, often recruited at low cost, such as Edin Dzeko, Francesco Acerbi, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the last two arrivals last summer, Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski.

However, the contribution of these last two additions this season has not been as hoped for by Inzaghi and the management. According to what is reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, both are already at risk ahead of the summer transfer session which should bring several changes to the squad.

With regard to Zielinski, like another aging midfielder like Mkhitaryan, considerations are being made and no decision can be ruled out at the moment. Taremi, on the other hand, does have a contract until 2027 but he has often disappointed and scored little, and he is highly likely to be sold at the end of the season.
