Speaking in an interview with DAZN after the final whistle, Simone Inzaghi commented on Inter’s draw against Napoli in the 12th game week of the Serie A. Here are his remarks:
PERFORMANCE – I am pleased with everything tonight. I congratulated the team, because if there had to be a winner, it was Inter. We went down on a dead ball situation, didn’t flounder and did not concede anything to Napoli, which is a strong team. After what we did against Arsenal, I wasn’t expecting such a game. In the second half, I didn’t even want to make a substitution, which I usually use a lot. We were close; we hit the post twice; missed a penalty. We could have capitalized more on our opportunities, but we had already exhausted ourselves on Wednesday and played against Napoli.
FORWARDS – “More combinations from the forwards? They worked a lot for the team, kept us united. After what we had spent, I congratulated everyone. Then as a coach, I must be good at putting the result aside, which doesn’t satisfy us. It will be a balanced championship and I saw a great Inter, who came from a win against Arsenal. I congratulated everyone, against Napoli who is good with fast players. Sommer did not make a save, against a team rightfully at the top of the table.
GOALS CONCEDED – “We concede a goal at the first shot in Serie A? That’s a statistic we’re trying to eliminate. We are working a lot on it. We have improved, but we will get better with work. The last two matches leave me calm. We are one of the 6 teams with a point, and there is great confidence. I didn’t make substitutions because I saw that the team was performing well.”
McTOMINAY GOAL – “15 corner kicks without conceding against Arsenal? Football is strange. There was a deflection; McTominay’s marker kept him in play. Those are the details that can make you win a match. Even a ball that hits the inside of the post but comes back out, but we have to be stronger than these things. We have 8 wins and 2 draws; they should have all been victories and we will try to improve. It must be noted that there will always be opponents who can cause us trouble.
