During Inter–Monza there were several tensions between some Nerazzurri players and the referee Marinelli. This was revealed by Davide Bernardi, journalist for Dazn and head of Bordocam, who reconstructed the exchanges that took place during the first half.
The most significant episode involved Bastoni. On a corner kick, the defender bothered Pizzignacco without ever touching him. The referee intervened to warn him, receiving an ironic response from the player: “It’s another league, it’s another league.”
The tone used by the referee did not please Lautaro, who from a distance invited Marinelli to calm down. “You’re talking, you’re exaggerating with everyone, calm down a bit,” said the captain. The referee’s reply was curt: “Focus on playing.”
At the end of the first half there was a further confrontation between the two. “But what’s happening? I’m just asking why. You can’t talk to you, you’ve been speaking badly to me since the beginning,” said Lautaro. According to Bernardi, the tensions did not arise so much because of the referee’s decisions, but rather because of the way the dialogue was conducted.
