According to Luca Calamai, Inter‘s season will largely depend on the confirmation of Pio Esposito. In his editorial for TMW, the journalist emphasized how the young striker is called upon to repeat the excellent performances of last season, becoming one of the key figures for Chivu‘s team.
“On paper, Inter and Napoli seem to have something extra. Waiting for the final moves, I think Pio Esposito will be one of the figures who will determine the season for Chivu’s team. Lautaro and Thuram are two certainties. But Inter needs new goals. Freshness in the offensive department. The kind that Pio can bring,” said Calamai.
The journalist expressed curiosity about the second season of the Nerazzurri talent, recalling how many promising youngsters have struggled after a breakout year. “I am curious to see the second season of this talent. The history of football has unwritten rules that are often confirmed on the pitch. There are many talented youngsters who, after their first season as protagonists, have gone into a tailspin,” he added.
Quoting a phrase from Giovanni Trapattoni, Calamai highlighted the difficulty of staying at the top: “As the great Giovanni Trapattoni used to say, it is not difficult to reach the top of a mountain, the problem is staying there despite the cold and the wind. We’ll see if Pio will surprise us on this front as well.”
