Garcia: I chose Inter for the project, I want to grow

The Spanish forward Sheila Garcia shares her story in an interview with Marca, revealing the behind-the-scenes details of her move to Inter Women and her goals for this new adventure. The player decided to leave Real Madrid to embrace a new challenge in Serie A, where she plays for the team led by Sassarini.

“I felt it was the right place to take the next step,” explained Garcia. “Inter is growing a lot, it has ambitions and I wanted to be part of this project. Also, the experience in a different league was a challenge I was looking forward to facing.” The negotiation was managed by her agent, the Madrid club, and the Nerazzurri, with all parties in constant contact to find the best agreement.

The financial investment made by the Lombard club convinced the forward of the seriousness of the project. “Inter invested a considerable sum to make the transfer possible, and this shows the trust they have in me. This commitment, together with the project they presented to me, made me very excited about this new challenge. Now I just hope to repay this trust on the field and show that they were right to sign me.”

On the decision to leave Spain, Garcia clarified: “No, absolutely not. Initially, everyone involved wanted me to stay at the club. However, Inter’s interest from the very beginning was significant, and this made me seriously consider the possibility. I thought it was a wonderful opportunity, both personally and professionally, and I believe it comes at a great moment in my career.”

The goals are ambitious. “It’s a very ambitious club and we want to compete for everything. The Italian league is very demanding, but the goal must be to fight in every match and win the title,” said the Spaniard, who aims to grow in every aspect. “I want to play consistently, have fun, and continue to grow as a footballer. My goal is to help the team in every way possible and give my best.”

On her experience at Real Madrid, Garcia expressed gratitude: “They were years of great learning, both on and off the field. I shared the locker room with extraordinary players and experienced very important moments in a club that always demands the best. I carry with me experiences that helped me grow and that I am sure will be useful in this new chapter.”
