La Gazzetta dello Sport assigned the ratings for the match against Atletico and, despite a convincing performance for much of the match, the final evaluations for Inter were affected by the result. In the end, the Spanish players received higher marks, with as many as five Inter players failing, six if you also count the coach.
Dimarco (7) was the best: “Possessed. Four threatening shots, two of which in the first 140 seconds. They never catch him: he deserved at least one goal.” Excellent performance for Bonny (6.5): “A valid substitute for Thuram: with his physique he attracts blows and attention, with quality and vision he instead sends Zielinski through on goal. Super assist.”
The same score for Zielinski (6.5): “In the middle of the crowded dance floor he doesn’t dance to the right rhythm. But when he finds open space, he becomes the star of the floor. Useless goal though.” Positive ratings also for Barella (6.5) and Bisseck (6.5). Passing marks for Sommer, Akanji, Thuram and Frattesi.
The lowest rating goes to Bastoni (5): “He can’t close the gap – but it was very difficult – on Simeone junior’s cross. He should have done better on Gimenez in the 93rd minute.” Also insufficient is Lautaro (5): “He has a spark, serving Dimarco vertically, but doesn’t show the ferocity of his best nights. Chivu substitutes him again.” 5.5 for Carlos, Calhanoglu and Sucic. No rating for Esposito and Luis Henrique.
Chivu stops at 5.5: “Inter plays with personality and quality, reacting to the defeat in the derby. But they pay for the usual blackouts and get pinned back at the end. The substitutions? Strange.”
