After the conclusion of the Champions League Round of 16, only eight teams remain in contention for the prestigious trophy. Among them is Inter, carrying the flag for Serie A as the only Italian club still in competition. Alongside them, there are two teams from Spain, two from England, two from Germany, and one from France.

As analyzed by Sky Sport, among the eight teams qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals, the team with the lowest roster cost in terms of transfer fees is indeed Inter. The Nerazzurri club has assembled its current squad by investing merely 291.3 million euros.

The only team coming close to Inter in this respect is Borussia Dortmund, with 292.7 million euros spent. All the other teams, conversely, had to pay significantly higher amounts. The figures, from lowest to highest, are: Aston Villa 364.9 million euros, Barcelona 391.7 million euros, Bayern Munich 498 million euros, Real Madrid 609 million euros, Paris SG 695.3 million euros, and finally, at the top, Arsenal 740.2 million euros.

In the upcoming rounds, we will see if this lower roster cost will have any impact on the competitiveness of Simone Inzaghi‘s squad when facing powerhouse teams such as Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals, and potentially the winner between Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals.
