Moments of tension at San Siro during Inter–Napoli, when in the 68th minute referee Doveri awarded a penalty to the Nerazzurri for a foul by Rrahmani on Mkhitaryan. The decision, made thanks to the intervention of VAR, sparked the anger of Antonio Conte, who was at the center of a heated protest.
The Neapolitan coach did not hide his disappointment. He protested vehemently against the referee, resorting to insults directed at the official. His reaction went beyond words: Conte violently kicked a ball that was nearby, then continued his protests against the fourth official Colombo.
The face-to-face with Colombo, who had called Doveri over during the outburst, marked the coach’s last contact with the field. As reconstructed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, before leaving the bench he repeatedly shouted the word “shame on you” at the match officials, maintaining the same attitude all the way to the stairs.
Meanwhile, Calhanoglu converted the penalty, putting Inter in the lead. Conte had to watch the last twenty minutes of the match from an alternative position, away from his usual bench. At the end of the match, his assistant Cristian Stellini appeared before the journalists, while the Salento coach did not attend the press conference.
