With a season finale that seems already set, at Inter the decision about the future of Cristian Chivu now appears to have been made: the Romanian coach will receive a contract renewal. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, all in-depth discussions have been postponed until the end of the season, when it is hoped that they can be held with the Scudetto on their chest. The details are, however, already reconstructable: the contract will be extended until 2028 with a doubled salary, around 4 million euros net per year.
The newspaper writes that what has increasingly convinced the management, in addition to the results of course, have also been his attitude, style, and the impact he has had on the group. “Chivu was clear-headed in rebuilding the self-esteem of players with broken hearts – writes La Gazzetta – and he did not let himself be overcome by anxiety after two defeats in the first three league matches. He could have lost his way after the break, but the double victory against Roma and Como put everything back in its place”.
