Chivu learning from Mourinho: “He realized something”

In his new experience on the bench, Cristian Chivu has certainly not forgotten the lessons he learned from some of the best coaches he had during his career. Among them is José Mourinho, with whom he shared two wonderful seasons at Inter and, above all, many trophies. It is precisely from the Portuguese coach that he inherited an important ability to analyze the characteristics of his own players.

As recalled this morning by Tuttosport, Chivu entered the Inter world with a very clear idea: to evolve Inzaghi‘s 3-5-2 into a 3-4-2-1. After a few timid experiments and at the end of a transfer window that did not bring him either Koné or Lookman, the coach went back to his original plan, reintroducing the old system of play but applying his own ideas to it.

“Not staring at the moon but being pragmatic is a gift: even José Mourinho, in his first season at Inter, wanted to play with the 4-3-3 (Moratti was forced to get him, in addition to Amantino Mancini, also Quaresma) but, when he realized that the team struggled with that system while it was a powerhouse with the 4-3-1-2 reminiscent of Mancini, he backtracked and won the league title on autopilot”, this is the comparison made by the Turin-based newspaper, which recalled the first steps of that Inter under Mourinho in which Chivu himself was one of the charismatic leaders.
