Following the heavy defeat of Inter 3-1 on the field of Napoli, the Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu spoke to the microphones of DAZN to comment on the match. These are his statements in response to journalists’ questions and his opinions after this loss at the Maradona in the eighth round of Serie A.

DEFEAT“I want to talk about football, the boys tried to stay in the game and we hit the post twice. We went behind even though we reacted, carried away by the good things we did in the first half we conceded the 2-0 in the second, losing our balance. We reopened the game with the penalty but then we wasted energy arguing with their bench and from that moment we didn’t have the clarity to turn the match around.”

THIRD GOAL“A waste of energy thrown away, we needed to understand the moment. There were many of us building up even on the second goal and a ball thrown by Spinazzola caught us unprepared, we didn’t absorb that run. On the third, it was from a throw-in and you can’t concede so easily as we did.”

TEAM“I am even more confident than I was before the match. I saw a good first half despite Napoli’s enthusiasm, we were dominant and we came here to play our game from the start to find quality. However, in the second half something was missing.”

CONTE“I don’t know what happened and I’m not interested. I will talk to the players and tell them not to waste energy arguing with the opposing bench, we must only focus on the game.”
