A few days before the big match at San Siro between Inter and Napoli, an episode from last season has resurfaced. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it all started on May 18, 2025 at the Tardini, during the match between Parma and the Azzurri. It was a crucial game: the home team was fighting to avoid relegation, while Napoli was chasing the Scudetto. Meanwhile, at San Siro, Inter was facing Lazio.

The match was marked by tense episodes: three shots hit the post, a penalty first awarded and then revoked, decisive saves by Suzuku and Meret, constant arguments on the field and between the benches. The climax came with two expulsions: one for Chivu and the other for Conte. The tension exploded when Napoli celebrated Lazio‘s equalizer against Inter.

At that moment, according to the reconstruction by the pink newspaper, Conte addressed very harsh words towards someone on the opposing bench. The target may have been Antonio Gagliardi, former assistant to the current Nerazzurri coach and match analyst for the National Team for ten years also under Conte, but there is no certainty. “You can’t wait, you piece of sh…, I’ll come and get you” were the words attributed to the Napoli coach.

This Sunday, January 11, the two teams will face each other again. Inter currently leads the standings alone, with Napoli four points behind after the draw with Verona. The atmosphere between the teams and coaches remains very heated.
