Santiago Castro is one of the biggest surprises of Italian football this season. The striker from Bologna, who scored the decisive goal for the team’s access to the Coppa Italia semi-finals against Atalanta, has long been in the sights of Inter as a possible attacking reinforcement for next summer.
In an interview with the Argentine website TyC Sports, Castro talked about his future, both in the national team and club, and his relationship with Lautaro Martinez, once he arrived from Argentina in Italy. Here are his words:
ARGENTINA NATIONAL TEAM – “The level is very high. If I ever get there, I want to be up to it. If the call were to arrive, I think at first it would be difficult for me given the high level. It would be a dream to be able to wear that shirt.
LAUTARO MARTINEZ – “When my transfer to Bologna was confirmed, he sent me a message and congratulated me. He made himself available for anything I needed. It was a very nice gesture and it helped me a lot in my adaptation. It’s amazing to see Lautaro on the field.
FUTURE MARKET – “I try not to look too much at what is being said. I need to focus on the club and the daily work. I think it’s the best thing because looking ahead wouldn’t do me good and would distract me. Today I think about Bologna, Sunday’s match, training, and giving my best.
