On Viva el Futbol, Antonio Cassano expressed very critical opinions about Barella and other leading figures in Italian football. “Behind Barella there are people worse than him. But for me, he is bad and overrated, I’ve been saying this for years and you know it,” declared the former striker, without mincing words.
Cassano’s criticism also extended to Tonali, with a jab at his market value: “110 million, madness, he’s really bad too. Tonali at 75 for Newcastle and at 110 for Tottenham, it means it’s right that I’m out of football.” On the Nerazzurri midfielder he added: “Giving 7 million to Barella is madness. And behind him there are still worse players. Let’s look at Romano and Doumbia.”
The former striker then turned his attention to Dimarco, discussing his use in the National Team. According to Cassano, the player can only perform at his best in a five-man system: “With four he has to work, but it’s not enough in the National Team. He has to work daily at the club too, otherwise he can’t do it. Always with five.”
On a tactical level, Cassano highlighted the limitations of using him as a full-back in a four-man defense: “Dimarco can shift the balance on paper, but if he plays as a full-back, Calafiori is left out. And anyway, you’d have to work day and night to make him play in a four-man defense.”
