Turkey, led by coach Vincenzo Montella, defeated Romania 1-0 in the World Cup playoff semifinal and will now face Kosovo in the final on Tuesday evening. In the 90th minute, after an intense match, Hakan Calhanoglu was substituted by Irfan Kahveci and just moments before leaving the field, he touched his left calf with a grimace on his face.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the initial indications, however, seem reassuring. The problem experienced by Calhanoglu appears to be only cramps, with no apparent more serious consequences. The situation will obviously be monitored in the coming days to rule out any complications, also because the Turkish player, captain of his team, will want to be on the field at all costs in the match that could secure the World Cup for Turkey.
