From the training camp in Germany, Yann Bisseck has outlined his goals for the upcoming season. The Inter defender, who joined Chivu‘s group from day one, spoke with the journalists present, illustrating his personal ambitions and the team’s targets.
The German does not hide the difficulties of the preparation: “When the season starts, we are all pumped up. I think nobody likes this preparation: we are working a lot, hard, for a long time, twice a day. For me, it’s not the best but it’s important to do it. I think we are working very well. We’ll see what happens during the season.”
On a personal level, Bisseck aims high: “I just want to play, have the coach’s trust, and give everything I have on the pitch. Show my qualities. I think I’m on the right path, it’s my fourth year. I want to play like last year, be a starter, be an important player. There’s a lot of work to do but I think the path is the right one.”
Asked about the title race and Napoli as the main rival, the defender replied confidently: “I always think we are the strongest. I think so even when we don’t win, football is sometimes strange. But there are many important teams in Serie A. Not just Napoli. If we stay focused on ourselves, then it doesn’t matter what others do. If we put our qualities on the pitch, we have a great chance to win another title.”
On the topic of the National Team, Bisseck maintains a balanced approach: “It’s normal, if you play for such a big club you are usually a player who goes to the National Team. But football is strange. I just want to play and help Inter, whatever happens will happen. I am very calm as always but of course I hope to go to the National Team.”
In his fourth year with the Nerazzurri, the defender feels the responsibility of being a point of reference: “It’s my fourth year, I’m no longer new and I have to do something for the young players. I have to become a leader also as a defender and it’s an important step: I have to be an example on and off the pitch and you have to ask the young players what I’m doing, if I’m doing well. I think I am, but there is always room for improvement as I always say.”
On the work done by Chivu during the training camp, Bisseck added: “Chivu is as you see him. He is very energetic, more energetic than the players. But it’s necessary, he gives us a lot of energy, when you hear the coach you give something extra. He is doing well, then we’ll see what we do on the pitch because in the end it’s up to us and not him.”
