Among the players who entered tonight’s match between Atalanta and Inter at risk of suspension, Alessandro Bastoni ended up receiving two yellow cards. With his first booking, the Inter defender automatically triggered a suspension for the next match, planned at San Siro against Udinese.

However, due to the second yellow card received near the end of the game and the subsequent red card shown to Bastoni by referee Massa, regulations make the situation drastically different. Indeed, the Inter defender will in any case serve a one-match suspension because of his sending-off tonight, but this will cancel out his previous yellow card.

This means that when he returns for the league match against Parma on April 5th, Bastoni will again carry forward his previous at-risk status. For example, if he is booked once more during the match against the Emilia-based club, the left-footed center-back would immediately face another suspension.
