On TMW, former Nerazzurri technical collaborator Adriano Bacconi outlined a tactical profile of the clash between Inter and Como, who are now about to face each other.
«The two teams that are performing best in Europe are facing each other. Both have a clear offensive identity. They are the two teams with the highest average shots on target, 21 and 20, and the highest average ball possession. They are two teams that want to dominate matches. And it will be interesting, because only one of them will be able to do so».
In terms of numbers, Bacconi highlighted how Inter, with their 3-5-2 formation, produce more than anyone else, leading the xG standings with 29.7. As for Como, they field two wide players on each flank, but are the team that attacks most through the center: «Fabregas’s wide players play inside the pitch in the half-spaces, and it is precisely there that Como devastates their opponents».
The former technical collaborator then pointed out the absence of Lautaro Martinez, calling it a heavy loss for the Nerazzurri: «Inter is really missing Lautaro Martinez, who is the player who takes the most shots in Serie A, over 5 per game». As for the attacking department, Bacconi observed that Thuram performs better with Pio Esposito alongside him, while Bonny would not be compatible due to his tendency to drift wide.
