Simone Inzaghi spoke to DAZN to comment on his team’s performance after the Atalanta-Inter match, the highlight fixture of the 29th Serie A matchday. The Nerazzurri coach praised his squad for the victory and gave an update regarding Dumfries‘ condition.

Atalanta-Inter, Simone Inzaghi’s statements

PERFORMANCE – As a coach, I’m very satisfied with the team’s significant performance tonight. We came to Bergamo with personality and could have closed the game earlier in the first half. There was the post, Lautaro’s goal that was disallowed, which was probably valid, and the chance with Frattesi. We came here against Atalanta, a team in superb form, and allowed very little to a side that scored 63 goals like us. We haven’t achieved anything yet, but the players deserve congratulations. Even this morning, six or seven of them were receiving treatment. With this spirit, we can achieve important things.

PERFORMANCE LEVEL – We played a great match. In recent weeks, people had been talking quite differently, but performances like these show the team has this level in them. We were at the end of an endless run of matches, but as a coach, I’m happy. There are nine matches left, many more to come, but I can’t ask more from the players.

ATALANTA – When playing against Atalanta, you need many things, and then you have to play technically well. Every game is different, but they’re always very exciting. Tonight was again an excellent match, at a high tempo, with two teams that deservedly have been at the top from the start of the season.

TREBLE – We want to play as many games as possible; however, we know what football is like. There’s been a lot of talk about Inter not being able to win anything, but this is sport. We’re happy to play many matches. After the break, we will start again and we shouldn’t look back. Tonight, we’re happy, we deserved the win, and we’ll continue on this path.

ANNOYANCES – Annoyances? Definitely not. I listen to everything being said, but I am the coach, and we all know what sport is. We don’t make overly complicated calculations.

DUMFRIES – Dumfries had some muscle soreness, he’ll be evaluated. He seems quite calm. He even told me to wait before substituting him, without realising I had already replaced him.
