After the full 90 minutes played yesterday evening with Albania in the 2-0 defeat against England, Kristjan Asllani spoke to the microphones of Sportmediaset commenting on the difficult months he has experienced lately at Inter. As the midfielder himself admitted, his performances with the Nerazzurri have not always been positive, and after the Italian Super Cup match it seems that something broke between him and the fans.
The Albanian midfielder stated: I have been booed, I am not here to lie. If they did it, they had their reasons, if they booed me it’s because I hadn’t played well, so I deserved the boos. I rightfully accept all the negative comments, but after the Super Cup they became a bit aggressive, especially towards me. I didn’t think I deserved that treatment, but as I’ve always said, I continue to work calmly. I have teammates who support me and a family that loves me, so I have no issue. I keep going on my own path, I’m 23 years old so I can certainly still grow.
Finally, Asllani also spoke about his future at Inter: I know that in these three years I haven’t shown my qualities very much, but I also understand that playing little and coming off the bench is difficult. But it’s all right, I’ve accepted that, and I am happy to have strong players ahead of me, such as Hakan. He’s like a mentor, a brother, it’s fair enough for me to stay behind him and to learn. Even Brozovic—what a player! For me he was one of the strongest midfielders in the world when he was at Inter. I admired them up close, and I feel that now I am ready. I believe I’ve made good progress in my development. I’ve always said I am an Inter fan, but I don’t want to make promises. I am thinking about finishing this season; I hope to remain many more years with the Nerazzurri, but in football, you never know.
