Yesterday marked the conclusion of Inter players’ international commitments around the globe, and the spotlight was entirely on Mehdi Taremi. The former Porto striker scored twice for Iran including a wonderful first goal, securing the Asian team’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Despite concerns about his physical condition, which appeared problematic in the prior days, Taremi rose to the occasion against Uzbekistan, netting two crucial goals to end the match in a 2-2 draw. Nevertheless, in the final moments, an incident alarmed Inter fans as well as manager Simone Inzaghi’s coaching staff.
At the 95th minute, shortly before the match ended, Taremi went to the ground while holding his thigh. According to today’s edition of Tuttosport, the injury does not appear serious. Sources indicate it was likely just a minor issue resulting from fatigue, following yet another sprint during an exhausting match for the Nerazzurri forward.
