Among the main admirers of Marko Arnautovic at the moment is certainly Alessandro Altobelli. The former famous forward of Inter, interviewed this morning in the pages of La Gazzetta dello Sport, explained that he has always believed in the qualities of the Austrian attacker, even in the darkest moments experienced this season.
Altobelli also revealed a very tempting offer that Arnautovic himself would have refused last January in order to stay and help Inter. These are the revelations by Spillo on the pages of the rosea this morning:
Surprised by Arnautovic’s exploit?
An exploit is a goal, an extraordinary shot. But his performance is not: I’m not surprised by the Austrian. Arnautovic is worth it, he’s an Inter player. I’ve always thought that, he has an important role in the locker room and even on the field his performances are rarely ordinary. There has been a lot of talk about Taremi, especially at the beginning of the season. But I’ve always believed that the first real alternative to Thuram and Lautaro was Arnautovic.
What convinces you the most about the Austrian?
He knows how to be useful even when he doesn’t score. His teammates trust him and they love him: did you see how he was attacking the defenders? And it’s something that the fans also recognize. And I know for sure that in January he refused the chance to play more. The role of first alternative is the hardest one: it needs to train better than the starters and wait…
Will he be a Scudetto factor?
He will certainly be a factor in the tournament. Inzaghi must rely on the whole squad. But he can do it proudly: this is the sentiment that should accompany Inter, starting from Napoli.
