Break for the national teams with more pain than joy for the Inter players chasing a ticket to the World Cup with their national teams. Hakan Calhanoglu, captain and leader of Turkey, is the only Inter player involved in the playoffs who can celebrate qualification for the final phase of the tournament, which will be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, thanks to the victory in the final against Kosovo.
Staying home, instead, are the five Italians as well as Piotr Zielinski, eliminated with his Poland by Sweden.
While waiting for the official call-ups, here are the Inter players who should be involved in the World Cup: Calhanoglu (Turkey), Akanji (Switzerland), Dumfries and de Vrij (Netherlands), Sucic (Croatia), Thuram (France), Lautaro Martinez (Argentina), Bisseck (Germany), Bonny (Ivory Coast).
Who is left out: Barella, Bastoni, Dimarco, Frattesi and Esposito (Italy), Zielinski (Poland).
Currently out of the senior national team circuit are Luis Henrique and Carlos Augusto (Brazil) and Diouf (France), as well as veterans who have said goodbye to the national team such as Acerbi and Darmian (Italy), Mkhitaryan (Armenia), and Sommer (Switzerland).
