The former Rossoneri goalkeeper relives the emotions of the Derby della Madonnina and shares his thoughts on Sunday’s clash
Christian Abbiati spoke about his first Milan derby and the upcoming match on Sunday between Inter and Milan, the first meeting of the season. The former Rossoneri goalkeeper appeared on YouTube as a guest of journalist Carlo Pellegatti, recalling a particular moment in his career.
“The first goal I conceded in a derby was by Ronaldo, The Phenomenon, from a penalty. It was an incredibly strong emotion, a mix of feelings that make you proud,” he recounted. “Being from Milan and playing in a derby is something wonderful”.
Abbiati then gave his assessment of Milan’s current situation ahead of the match against Inter. “It’s an open game. I have the utmost confidence in Allegri, he’s a great coach,” he said. “I believe he’s the right person for Milan: he’s the right coach to bring the team back to the level it deserves.”
The derby, scheduled for Sunday, promises to be a crucial clash for both teams. Milan wants to aim high again with Allegri, while Inter aims to consolidate its position in the standings.
