What should we expect from Inter in the January transfer market?

There is still a month and a half left before the re-opening of the January transfer market, but the Inter directors’ work has certainly not stopped in recent weeks. Contacts with agents and intermediaries continue to be frequent, waiting for the famous opportunity that could redesign any previous strategy.

In the meantime, we bring to light some of the possible moves that the black and blue club could make in January. Given a numerically full roster, we certainly do not expect sensational acquisitions: if the management decides to intervene in arrival, it will mainly do so to strengthen the current team.

First of all, it must be said that to allow new pieces to arrive, someone will necessarily have to leave. For obvious reasons, Arnautovic and Correa remain the main candidates: both will see their contracts expire at the end of the season and are not finding space in Inzaghi’s attack rotations. The situation of Tomas Palacios must also be monitored: the Argentine has only played 9 minutes since he arrived in Italy and could go on loan to complete his growth elsewhere.

If the decision were made to let the Argentine go, there would be two profiles on the club’s radar: a left-footed center back, or a left winger with the demotion of Carlos Augusto as vice Bastoni. In this second case, Inzaghi would certainly ask for a wing-back capable of beating his man considering the bad numbers of his boys in this fundamental aspect. In the second hypothesis, however, an attempt would be made to secure a loan to add a more experienced defender to the team. Hence, eyes on the track leading to Kiwior of Arsenal, who was already sounded out last summer.

The loan formula will indeed guide any type of incoming move, with an option to be included at the end of the season. However, in this regard, it could be difficult to convince clubs like Verona and Parma to let go of players like Tengstedt and Bonny in January: both attackers are doing very well and are being followed by Inter with interest. Only in case one of the center-forwards currently in the squad should leave, however, would it be possible to make a move.
