In recent years, one of the main strengths of Simone Inzaghi‘s Inter squad has always been its midfield, characterized by numerous talented players who have propelled the team forward both in Italy and in Europe. One of the most important faces in the Nerazzurri midfield for the past four seasons has been Hakan Calhanoglu, a player who managed to win the affection of the supporters following his arrival from a city rival like Milan.

The Turkish midfielder successfully reinvented himself in a playmaker role positioned just in front of the defense, thanks to his outstanding technical skills and also due to the work done in collaboration with Inzaghi and his staff. However, already last summer, there were several rumors of interest in the transfer market concerning Inter’s number 20, and these rumors could resurface at the end of this season, especially after his latest declarations about the team close to his heart.

The Nerazzurri management would indeed like to keep Calhanoglu, but considering a desire to rejuvenate the squad, they might consider selling him. Meanwhile, he reveals his end-of-career dream: I am very happy at Inter, but I don’t know what the future holds. I would like to transfer to Galatasaray—wearing that jersey one day would be a dream for me, he admitted to Turkish newspaper Sabah.
