The first signing for Inter for the 2025/26 season goes by the name Petar Sucic. Born in 2003, the midfielder has already undergone medical examinations with the Nerazzurri and is effectively a new reinforcement for Simone Inzaghi‘s team, although for technical reasons the official statement by the club from Viale della Liberazione has not yet been released.
During this international break, there was an opportunity to observe him closely, as Croatia faced France in the quarter-finals of the Nations League. Although the Balkan team was eliminated by the French side on penalty kicks, Sucic drew attention with an impressive performance, receiving high praise and breaking a record previously held by former Inter player Marcelo Brozovic.
Sucic is indeed the first player in the history of the Croatian national team to have covered an impressive 17,943 meters during a single match, a record highlighting the midfielder’s extraordinary athletic qualities. The current Dinamo Zagreb player was aided by playing 120 minutes, although this is certainly not the first time Croatia has been involved in extra time in their history.
This record was previously held by former Inter player Marcelo Brozovic, known among San Siro fans for regularly covering huge distances in every game. Currently with Al-Nassr, Brozovic set the record during the 2022 World Cup match against Japan, running 16,700 meters, a record at the time for a World Cup match. It remains to be seen whether in 2026 Sucic will be able to beat it again.
