The idea linking Gigio Donnarumma to Inter is shaping up as something more than just simple transfer speculation. The Italian national team’s number one goalkeeper represents a genuine possibility in the future plans of the Nerazzurri, especially considering the expiry of his current contract with Paris Saint Germain, scheduled for June 2026.
No clarifications or denials of any kind have recently been provided by the player himself. These rumours have been further strengthened by slow progress in discussions around renewing his contract at PSG. Hence, Inter could seize the opportunity to sign Donnarumma on a free transfer in one year’s time, in the summer when Yann Sommer could also be leaving as his current deal likewise expires in June 2026.
Riccardo Trevisani discussed Donnarumma’s future during the latest episode of Fontana di Trevi, stating: There is nothing to deny, it’s an option. If he does not renew with Paris Saint Germain, Inter will be one of the clubs aiming to sign him on a free transfer, and probably not the only one. Then it will depend on where he wants to live, the project, the offers, ambitions, and more. Would Inter please him? I think yes. I believe going abroad is great, but after five years abroad it’s normal to want to come back home and eat some proper pasta.
